A Proper Valentine’s Dinner at Home, Chateaubriand, Chips & a Make-Ahead Pudding (Valentine’s Pt 2)

For part two of my Valentine’s series, I’m heading to the butcher for a proper treat and cooking a special dinner at home. I’m talking you through choosing a beautiful piece of Chateaubriand, then cooking a classic steak and chips with homemade béarnaise and simple greens.

I’m also sharing a make-ahead pudding that feels really special but is surprisingly easy, a rhubarb panna cotta using early forced rhubarb, with an alternative if rhubarb isn’t your thing. This is very much about enjoying good food, taking a bit of time, and making an ordinary evening feel like an occasion.

Part three is coming next, all about setting the table and pulling everything together, but for now this is the cooking! I hope it gives you some inspiration for Valentine’s Day, or any night you want to make feel special.
