Helping Young People Choose Their Future – A Chat with Education Consultant Sam (Career Advice)

This week’s Ask Charlie is a little different. I sat down with Sam, an educational consultant, to talk all things future choices—from how we guide our children, to the pressures of exams, decisions around university, apprenticeships, and finding work that feels fulfilling.

Sam shares his experience from working in education over the past 20 years and talks about the brilliant new summer programme he’s running at the University of Chichester—designed to help 14–17 year olds explore different career paths in a hands-on, inspiring and non-traditional way.

We cover how to support young people in developing confidence and resilience, why communication and real-world experience matter, and how it’s okay to change direction. If you’re a parent, guardian, teacher—or a young person yourself—this conversation is packed with thoughtful advice.

Let us know if you’d like to hear more from Sam or have questions you'd like us to answer next time.

Love, Charlie x
