How To Navigate Puppy Parenthood (With Love and Responsibility)

This week, Florence and I are excited to share our journey with the puppies and I’ll be discussing the joys and challenges of raising them!

While I wouldn't call myself a breeder, Penny (Florence’s Mother) had two litters and I wanted to continue the lineage. Amongst our assortment of beloved animals, our miniature wire-haired dachshunds are integral parts of our countryside lifestyle. From long walks to bike rides, they fit right in and are perfectly suited to our lives!

Breeding isn't without its difficulties, and we tragically lost one puppy, Little Star. However, darling Florence's nurturing spirit has really shone through and she is an absolute natural at caring for her babies. I’m so incredibly proud of her.

For me, being a good midwife to Florence meant providing support while allowing her to take the lead. Vet consultations and advice from experienced breeders ensured a smooth process and now, with the puppies born and thriving, finding them loving homes is the next step.

Witnessing the miracle of new life right before my eyes is always an indescribable honour, and fills me with a profound sense of gratitude. Guiding these pups through their early stages of life, ensuring they are healthy, loved, and prepared for their future homes, is not just a duty but a complete privilege. Knowing that I play a role in shaping their early lives and ultimately uniting them with families who will cherish them brings a profound sense of fulfilment and satisfaction.

I hope you’ll join me as I talk all about it this week, and as always, do let me know if you have any questions.

Love, Charlie x
