Surviving the summer holidays

For this week’s How-to, I’m talking about how we survive (and thrive!) as a family during the summer holidays.

Many parents understandably find the summer break overwhelming, while others enjoy having their children at home. Regardless of your preference, it's important to plan and organize to maintain balance and ensure a happy time for all.

During this week’s video, I talk about involving your children in the decision-making process by asking what they would like to do during the holidays. Considering affordable day trips, picnics, or outdoor activities that can keep them entertained and arranging playdates with their friends or organizing child swaps with other families provides a break for both you and them.

Creating structure is crucial, as too much downtime can often lead to boredom and misbehaviour. Encouraging your children to participate in household tasks, cooking, gardening and other activities develops valuable life skills and helps share the workload.

You all know I love to plan ahead, but it really is important here. Whether it's for daily activities, outings, or even preparing for the next school year, which I promise you will creep up very fast! Avoid the last-minute rush for school uniforms, shoes, and other supplies by taking care of these tasks in advance. By being proactive and organized, you can all enjoy a smoother and more enjoyable summer break!

I hope you enjoy watching,

Love, Charlie x
