A Realistic Week of Food Shopping | Farm Shops, Tesco & Family Life

This week, quite a few of you asked if I would share how I actually do my food shopping so that is exactly what we’re doing. Although, truthfully, I’m not somebody who does one enormous weekly shop. I tend to pick bits up as and when we need them, often from several different places across the week depending on what we’re cooking, what’s in season and supporting local shops.

We begin at our lovely local farm shop and green grocers, picking up fresh produce, herbs, local strawberries, beautiful tomatoes and all the little ingredients that make everyday cooking feel special. Then we head to Tesco for the practical bits, freezer staples, family favourites and a few extras that somehow always make their way into the trolley.

Back home, I unpack everything and chat through how I meal plan loosely around real life, busy weeks, children coming and going, exam revision, quick suppers, soups from the freezer and trying to keep healthy options on hand without being overly restrictive. Simon also joins us later on with his own farm shop haul, a very delicious-looking piece of rump steak, and a few thoughts on shopping smart and supporting local businesses.

More than anything, this video is really about the rhythm of everyday family life. The small routines, the conversations in local shops, the balance between convenience and freshness, and creating meals that nourish everyone without overcomplicating things.

If you’re feeling stretched with family life, food shopping or simply trying to keep everything ticking along, I hope this feels reassuring in its normality.

Love, Charlie x
