A Slow Scottish Escape | Highland Games, Family Time & Our Anniversary

This week’s vlog takes us up to Scotland for a few days of family time, fresh air and a much-needed change of pace.

We begin with a very early start and a long road trip north, full of snacks, audiobooks and that slightly chaotic feeling of trying to get everything organised and out of the door. Once we arrive, there’s the loveliest sense of settling in: collecting Gus from school, a cosy Airbnb, walks with Lola, coastal paths, blue skies, sea birds and those little moments that make Scotland feel so special.

There’s also a family day at Gordon Castle Highland Games, complete with pipes, tug of war, hail showers, muddy boots and Lola’s excitement. Later in the week Simon and I spend our wedding anniversary on the river, fly fishing, with sandwiches, a flask and the simple pleasure of being outside together.

I also share a little book event at Gordon Castle, a wander through the gardens, and a few reflections on rest, family, home, and how good it can feel to step away and recharge.

If life has felt full recently, I hope this vlog feels like a gentle breath of fresh Scottish air.
