How to Alter a Blouse That's Too Long (Beginner-Friendly)
I get asked about clothes alterations all the time, so this week I'm showing you exactly how I do one, start to finish. This beautiful Kate Barton blouse has been sat in my wardrobe for years, gorgeous, but just too long in the body for me to reach for it. So instead of letting it sit there unworn, I finally altered it.
I'll talk you through marking and pinning the new length, cutting with a proper hem allowance, ironing it into place, and stitching it on my sewing machine, including the one pinning trick that makes stitching so much easier. If you've got something in your wardrobe you love but never wear because the fit isn't quite right, I hope this shows you it's more straightforward than you think, and that it's always worth altering rather than giving up on a piece.
If you'd like to learn the basics properly, my online sewing course covers alterations, hand stitching, and using a machine from scratch, I'll leave that linked below.
I hope you enjoy watching
With love
