The Book Becomes Real, Ask Charlie Turns 7 & A Beautiful London Event (Weekly Vlog)

November always brings a little reflection, but this week felt especially poignant. Ask Charlie turned seven - which feels quite extraordinary - and it also marked nine years since Mum died. I had a bit of a wobble. There are so many moments when I wish she could see the children growing up and witness this next chapter with the book. She’s woven through so much of it, from the recipes and family rituals to the values at its heart, so it all feels beautifully bittersweet.

And then, the most thrilling moment - the proofs arrived from the printers. Holding the full, uncut pages in my hands for the first time was surreal. All the recipes, photographs, and acknowledgements laid out in sequence… it suddenly felt very real! It’s been years in the making, and to finally see it coming together properly, ahead of the December launch, was just incredible.

I’ve also been quite honest this week about making some changes to my eating. My sugar habit had quietly spiralled - those late-afternoon chocolate and crisp moments had become too frequent! So, I’ve gone savoury for breakfast, added more protein, and cut out the rubbish. It’s only been a short while, but I already feel more focused, less foggy, and generally lighter in myself.

The week ended beautifully with a Smock London event. I’ve loved their pieces for years - traditional smocking reimagined in a really wearable, feminine way. Meeting the founders in person was such a joy.

A lovely mix of work, family, and special milestones - and with book launches, wreath-making workshops, and Christmas content just around the corner, it’s all feeling rather exciting.

Love, Charlie x
