Winter Gardening Checklist, Pruning Roses & Fruit Trees (A Walk Around the Garden)

This week, I’m taking you outside into the garden to talk through my winter gardening checklist and answer a few questions I’ve had from the book. I start by reading through the winter section, then I take you out to show it all properly, roses, fruit trees, hellebores, the orchard and the greenhouse.

I talk about what actually needs doing now, how and when to prune roses and fruit trees, what not to prune in winter, forcing rhubarb, feeding the birds and keeping an eye on things quietly ticking over at this time of year. I also share how we look after this garden, why pruning is about creating space, and how the garden is set up to work with the seasons rather than against them.

We finish with a slow walk around the garden on a beautiful winter’s day, looking at the roses after their prune, the orchard, the hellebores showing signs of promise and how everything is set up ready for spring. If you’ve got a garden, big or small, or you’re just curious about seasonal living in the beautiful outdoors, this one’s for you!

Love, Charlie x

P.S. A quick note before we head outside - the new drone is taking some getting used to, so the audio isn’t perfect whilst I’m walking around the garden. I’m still learning, but I hope you enjoy seeing the garden as much as I enjoyed showing you!
