Behind the Scenes of Handcuffed | What I Was Really Feeling
In today’s Ask Charlie, I wanted to share something a little different with you.
With the final episode of Handcuffed airing this evening, it felt like the right moment to look back and show you the small snippets I filmed during that time, the quiet moments in hotel rooms, the nerves before it all began, the overwhelm, the honesty, and the very real sense that I was stepping into something far bigger than I had imagined.
This was one of the most challenging things I have ever done. It pushed me well beyond my comfort zone and into a world that felt unfamiliar, intense and, at times, completely surreal. There were moments of fear, moments where I questioned why on earth I had said yes, and moments where I very nearly pulled out altogether. But there were also moments of laughter, kindness, connection and genuine perspective.
Looking back now, with a little distance, I can see how much it taught me. Not just about myself, but about other people too. It reminded me how easy it is to make assumptions about someone’s life until you are given the chance to really know them. And sometimes, the greatest growth comes from the things we would never have chosen in comfort, but are so grateful for in hindsight.
What began as something deeply daunting became an experience I will never forget. I came away with more understanding, more compassion, and a real sense of gratitude for the conversations it opened up in our family too.
If you’re feeling nervous about stepping into something unknown, I hope this episode reminds you that growth and fear so often sit side by side, and that sometimes the most unexpected experiences can leave the deepest mark.
Thank you for watching, as always, and for allowing me to share a little more of the behind-the-scenes truth of that season.
Love, Charlie x
